3. LIFE MEMBERSHIP NOMINATIONS

Life membership nominations are submitted to the board for approval via an existing Life Member. The board is then able to recommend to the annual general meeting that any natural person who has rendered distinguished service to the Club be appointed as a Life Member. Any board member who is nominated for as a Life Member has been removed from any voting procedure at board level regarding their recommendation to the annual general meeting.

Voting Procedures – Clause 4.2 of the Constitution

1. The Board may recommend to the annual general meeting that any natural person who has rendered distinguished service to the Club be appointed as a Life Member.
2. A resolution of the annual general meeting to confer life membership (subject to clause 4.2(c)) on the recommendation of the Board must be a Special Resolution (75% majority of those present).
3. A person must accept or reject the Club’s resolution to confer life membership in writing. Upon written acceptance, the person’s details shall be entered upon the Register, and from the time of entry on the Register the person shall be a Life Member

The Board of the South Perth Cricket Club is recommending the appointment of the following individuals as Life Members at the 96th Annual General Meeting of the South Perth Cricket Club.

Rob Thompson

• Rob has given distinguished service to South Perth CC over the past 4 decades as a
  • Player – 1st Grade player (including 83/84 Pennant Premiership team and 86/87 Toyota Cup), Vice Captain of A Grade and upon his retirement from A Grade cricket captaining 2nd Grade
  • Coach – Club Coach in the 1980’s, including 86/87 Toyota Cup Win
  • Board Member – Since 2021/22 season, including a 4 year role as Chairman of the Club
  • External Advisor – Rob was also instrumental in service to the SPCC Board in regard to club structuring, constitutional reform and best practice governance.
• Rob enjoyed a long and successful career as a Sports Administrator at both the Western Australian Cricket Association and SportsWest – where his continued links and support to South Perth were fostered throughout his time at both organisations.

Rob has been a wonderful servant to cricket at South Perth and would be a very worthy addition to the ranks of Life Members at SPCC

 Langley Angel

• Langley first joined SPCC as a member in 1989, who enjoyed a successful career in lower grade cricket through the 1990’s before departing to pursue A Grade ambitions elsewhere in 1996.
• Langley returned to South Perth in 1999/00 to open the batting in A Grade, and later that season was part of the a Club Record opening partnership of 255 with Ben Hollioake.
• Upon retiring from A Grade cricket in 2003, Langley gave distinguished service to South Perth through captaining the 2nd Grade side for 6 seasons from 2003/04 – 2008/09 where his experience, guidance and mentoring of a generation of young players and future 1st Grade, state and international cricketers helped set up South Perth for period of great success and premierships in the late 2000’s and early 2010’s.
• After his playing career finished, Langley returned as an assistant coach at South Perth in the 2019/20 season, and was appointed as the Head Coach of the club for the 2020/21 season. In Langley’s first season the Club won its first T20 Premiership under his guidance (finally achieving the premiership success that had unfortunately alluded him as a player).
• Langley has had 6 seasons of service as the Head Coach of South Perth and is respected by all throughout the Premier Cricket Competition for his passion and service to SPCC

Langley has been a wonderful servant to cricket at South Perth and would be a very worthy addition to the ranks of Life Members at SPCC.

Jason Hunt

• Jason has been a member of SPCC since joining the Club’s Junior programs in 1996/97.
• Jason enjoyed early success in a great era of junior cricket of South Perth being part of the 1990/00 U15s winning premiership side as well as the 2001/02 U17s winning side.
• Jason made his A Grade debut in 2002 as a 17 year old and has continued to this day as one of the club’s longest ever serving players.
• Jason’s most significant contribution to South Perth as however been off the field:
  • Jason joined the SPCC Board in 2018/19 season as Treasurer and has served on the SPCC Board for the past 8 season consecutively
  • Jason has led significant projects for South Perth in his time on the Board including the conversion of all records to our digital HIVO platform, professionalisation of the accounting functions of the club (moving from Bookkeeping to integrated financial reporting), implementation of new website/social media templates, automating fee collection processes, changes of banks, payment improvements/cashless function, as well as significant efforts towards grant funding, sponsorship, memorabilia enhancement and numerous other club projects of significance
  • Jason has been an incredible contributor to the SPCC over a number of years and sets a great examples for other club members to follow with his dedication and hours of commitment to servicing SPCC and making it a better place to be.

Jason has been a wonderful servant to cricket at South Perth and would be a very worthy addition to the ranks of Life Members at SPCC.

3 x Directors to be elected for a 2 year term

Voting Procedures – Clause 14.3 of the Constitution

• If the number of of nominations received is equal to the number of vacancies to be filled or if there are insufficient nominations received to fill all vacancies on the Board, then those nominated shall be declared elected only if approved by the majority of Members entitled to vote at the meeting.
• If there are insufficient nominations received to fill all vacancies on the Board, or if a person is not approved by the majority of Members under clause 14.3(a), the positions will be deemed casual vacancies under clause 15.1.
• If the number of nominations exceeds the number of vacancies to be filled, voting papers shall be prepared containing the names of the candidates in alphabetical order for each vacancy on the Board.
• Voting shall be conducted in such a manner and by such a method as determined by the Board from time to time. All voting for Office Bearers is performed via secret ballot, to be counted and scrutineered by two current Board members

Nominations for the position of Director were received as follows:

Graeme Clayton
I would like to nominate for a position as Director of the South Perth Cricket Club, driven by a strong passion for cricket and a genuine commitment to the continued growth and success of the Club.

I bring extensive experience across business leadership, operations, and sport, including senior executive roles in both the UK and Australia, along with significant involvement in cricket administration and coaching at junior and club level. My background includes strategic planning, stakeholder engagement, commercial development, and operational management, all of which I believe can add value at Board level.

Through my recent involvement in junior cricket, I have developed a strong understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing clubs today—particularly around player pathways, volunteer engagement, and sustainable growth. I am particularly interested in contributing to strategic cricket operations, club development, and strengthening the connection between junior and senior programs.

I am committed to supporting a collaborative, forward-thinking Board that continues to build a strong culture both on and off the field, ensuring South Perth Cricket Club remains a leading club within the WA cricket community.

Owen McColl
I wish to nominate to the Board as a Director.

My skills I would bring are as below, but certainly not limited to;

• Apparel design, purchase, coordination
• Supply, Purchasing and Inventory control
• Partnerships / Sponsorships

Most of my career has been white collar in the area of Supply, Purchasing, Inventory, OEM and the last 8 years in Planning & Scheduling in the Mining Industry.

I also own and run a cricket business, purchasing locally and overseas and hand making equipment right here in Perth.  I provide equipment for International players and also local players.
Previously I Managed players also, their central contracts, along with WBBL and BBL contracts.

This past season I was the U14 Girls assistant coach. This coming season I have been elected as the U17 Youth league coach at the Club.

Genevieve Introna
I would like to formally nominate myself for the position of Treasurer of South Perth Cricket Club.
I am currently working as a Management Accountant, with over 15 years’ experience in financial management, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting. In my professional role, I am responsible for analysing financial performance, ensuring accuracy in financial data, and supporting sound decision-making. This has equipped me with the technical skills and attention to detail required to manage the financial responsibilities of the Treasurer role
effectively.

I have experience working with budgets, tracking expenditure, and maintaining financial systems, all of which are directly relevant to the requirements of this position. The role of Treasurer involves managing the club’s finances, preparing budgets, monitoring cash flow, and ensuring accurate reporting to the committee. I am confident in my ability to contribute to these responsibilities with a high level of professionalism, transparency, and accountability.

Beyond my professional qualifications, I am passionate about contributing to the success and sustainability of the club. I would welcome the opportunity to give back to the community, support the club’s ongoing development, and work collaboratively with the committee to ensure the club remains financially strong and well-managed.

I am particularly motivated to bring structure, consistency, and clear financial oversight to the role, helping enable better planning and decision-making for the club’s future initiatives.

Natalie Cross
I am writing to nominate for a position as a Director of the South Perth Cricket Club (SPCC) Board.

I have been part of the SPCC community for the past six years and have served as the Board Secretary for the past two year. Prior to joining the Board I was the manager for the Men’s U17s team for two years as well as the manager of the Men’s U15s team for a year.

Through my professional career, I have extensive experience in leadership, project management and human resources. I previously held a university based, senior leadership role for seven years. Through the role I was a member of a University School Executive which set the strategic direction of the School and held financial responsibility for the School’s operation. I was also the line manager for a large number of staff during that time. I was the Deputy Chair of a University level Community of Practice and am currently a member of the Academic Board. I have completed a large number of funded research projects requiring a broad range of project management skills to facilitate timely project completion that is within budget.

I have a strong belief in the culture of SPCC and the direction in which the Club is currently moving. I was a Board member through a period of significant change at SPCC and am keen to continue to support and contribute to the growth and success of the Club across the Male and Female, Junior and Senior Cricket programs.
