About the Club

Established 1930

The South Perth Cricket Club caters for the playing requirements of men, women and children from the ages of 11 upwards in the South Perth district.

 

South Perth field junior and senior in the WA Premier Cricket Male and Female competitions as well sides is the Western Australian Suburban Turf Competition.

Our junior players are selected during trials held in February/March each year for the following seasons squads.

South Perth have produced 8 male Test cricketers and is the home for current state players Hilton Cartwright and Piper Cleary who both came through our junior program.

The Club currently has 200 active playing members represented by:

 

  • 4 Senior Men’s teams in the WA Premier Cricket competition
  • 2 Senior Women’s teams in the WA Premier Cricket competition
  • 4 Junior Boy’s teams that take part in the WA Premier Cricket under-age district competitions
  • 2 Junior Girls’s teams that take part in the WA Premier Cricket under-age district competitions
  • 3 Senior Men’s teams in the WASTCA competition

Our History

After first playing in 193o, South Perth has won 7 1st grade men’s 2 day titles, 8 1st grade men’s one-day titles,  1 1st grade men’s T20 title, 1 A grade women’s 50 over title and one A grade women’s T20 title.

South Perth Cricket Club Members’ Code of Conduct
Values: Respect, Integrity, Commitment and Unity

The reputation and image of our club are integral to our success and our standing in the community. The Member Code of Conduct outlines the expected behaviour of all our members and officials, who represent South Perth Cricket Club. It is crucial that club members and officials adhere to this code when representing the club in any capacity.

This document details general expectations applicable to all members, including players, officials, and others. Players have additional expectations that they must abide by. Therefore, every player at South Perth Cricket Club must meet both the General Expectations and the Players’ Expectations outlined below.

It is important to note that the expectations provided are guidelines, and the Board of South Perth Cricket Club reserves the right to report any member or official for conduct deemed outside the spirit of these guidelines, whether explicitly covered in the Members’ Code of Conduct or not.

General Expectations
These are the expectations required of all South Perth Cricket Club Members

  • Unsportsmanlike behaviour is unacceptable.
  • Verbal or physical abuse is not tolerated.
  • Respect the rights, dignity, and worth of every person, regardless of ability, gender, cultural background, or religion.
  • Members must refrain from any form of harassment towards others.
  • Any member who causes the club to be fined because of their behaviour must compensate the club for the fine.
  • No member, while representing the club as a player or acting in an official capacity (coach, scorer, manager, umpire), shall be under the influence of alcohol or other substances during the match.
  • Members are expected to take pride in our clubrooms and maintain the cleanliness and tidiness of club facilities.
  • Members are responsible for the behaviour of any visitor/s they introduce to the club.
  • Coaches and junior team officials are expected to promote these guidelines to junior cricketers and their supporters.
  • Members must conduct themselves responsibly and in an acceptable manner.
  • Members are expected to make umpires, opposition players and officials feel welcome at the end of the day’s play.
  • Members must respect umpires, opposition players, club officials and other members.
  • Members are expected to contribute to the operation of the club.
  • Members must follow all requirements in and around the Club when in charge of a motor vehicle, including parking regulations.
  • Current members are encouraged to welcome and include new members.
  • If called upon to be an on-field official or umpire, members must uphold the rules and spirit of cricket impartially and with fairness to all competing teams and participants.
  • Members are expected to uphold the South Perth Cricket Club Members’ Code of Conduct and hold other members to account – “The standard you walk past is the standard you accept”.

Players’ Expectations

  • Play by the Laws, rules and spirit of cricket.
    • Never argue with an umpire; disagreements should be addressed by the captain appropriately.
  • Control your emotions.
    • Verbal abuse of officials and other players, deliberate distractions, or provoking opponents are not acceptable or permitted.
  • Work equally hard for yourself and your teammates – your team’s performance will benefit and so will you.
  • Be a good sport.
    • Respect the opposition, be humble in victory, and gracious in defeat.
    • Recognize good plays, whether by your team or the opposition.
  • Treat all participants in cricket as you want to be treated.
    • Do not bully or take unfair advantage of competitors.
  • Cooperate with your captain, coach, teammates, and opponents.
  • Senior playing members are expected to encourage and assist in developing junior players.
  • Participate for your enjoyment and benefit.

 

South Perth Cricket Club Junior Player and Parent Code of Conduct
Values: Respect, Integrity, Commitment and Unity

The Junior and Parent Code of Conduct outlines the expectations for behaviour and support for junior players, parents and guardians involved in South Perth Cricket Club.

Junior Player Expectations

  • Treat everyone with respect and kindness. Support and encourage your fellow players.
  • Work collaboratively with fellow players, coaches and volunteers
  • Report any unsafe conditions, incidents or concerns to a trusted adult
  • Attend practices, meetings and games on time and inform coaches or team managers if unable to attend
  • Treat all equipment, facilities and property with care and respect
  • Maintain a positive and enthusiastic attitude during games, trainings and events.
  • Encourage and celebrate others achievements
  • Resolve conflicts peacefully and constructively and seek the assistance of a trusted adult, coach or leader if needed.
  • Be open to feedback from coaches and teammates for personal improvement

 

Parent Expectations

  • Encourage and support all players, coaches, and official in a positive and respectful manner. Avoiding negative comments, criticism or confrontations with players coaches or other parents
  • Treat all players, coaches, officials and fellow parents with respect and refrain from any form of verbal or physical abuse.
  • Emphasize good sportsmanship and fair play to your child. Encourage good performances from all participants.
  • Familiarise and abide by the rules and policies of South Perth Cricket Club
  • Address any concerns or disputes through the appropriate channels within the club.
  • Respect and care for club facilities, equipment, and property.
  • Openly communicate with the coach and team managers regarding attendance and availability.
  • Resolve conflicts peacefully and constructively. If conflict arises, seek the assistance of coaches, team managers or appropriate personnel.

 

Behaviour contrary to this Junior Player and Parent Code of Conduct may result in disciplinary action, which can include verbal warnings, written warnings, temporary suspension of attendance at events, or, in severe cases, expulsion from South Perth Cricket Club. Disciplinary actions will be determined by the club’s leadership.
